UV Flexible Ink Cannot Use as UV-DTF ink?

I. Mismatch of ink characteristics

  • Characteristics of UV flexible ink: UV flexible ink has a certain degree of flexibility and ductility. It can adhere to soft materials and adapt to slight deformations of the materials. For example, when printing on leather, soft PVC and other materials, it can ensure that the pattern does not crack or fall off when the material is bent or twisted.

  • Characteristics of UV-DTF film: The UV-DTF film has special requirements for ink. It requires the ink to achieve good adhesion on its surface. And during the process of transferring the film to the target object, the ink can stably remain on the film without problems such as bleeding and diffusion. However, UV flexible ink may not meet these special adhesion and transfer requirements on the UV-DTF film.

II. Inapplicable printing process

  • UV printing process: UV printing usually sprays ink onto the material surface through a nozzle and then uses ultraviolet light to irradiate to quickly cure the ink. During the UV printing process, the instantaneous curing of the ink may cause uneven ink layers on the film, affecting the quality and clarity of the pattern.

  • Printing process requirements of UV-DTF: The printing process of UV-DTF film may require special equipment and conditions. For example, it may be necessary to precisely control the ejection amount and ejection speed of the ink to ensure that the ink forms a uniform and consistent pattern on the film. At the same time, during the film transfer process, specific temperature, pressure and other conditions are also required to ensure the complete transfer of the pattern. These conditions are incompatible with the printing process of UV flexible ink.

III. Possible damage to the performance of the film

  • Influence of UV flexible ink on the film: Although UV flexible ink itself is flexible, some of its components may have adverse reactions with the material of the UV-DTF film. For example, it may cause changes in the physical properties (such as flexibility, tensile strength, etc.) of the film, making it unable to be used normally or reducing its service life.

  • Influence on the final effect: Even if UV flexible ink can be printed on the UV-DTF film, due to the interaction between the ink and the film, the printed pattern may not achieve the expected effects in terms of color saturation, clarity, glossiness, etc., thus affecting the quality and aesthetics of the product.
